SAQ 1112 – worsening haemoptysis assessment and escalation

A 54-year-old woman presents to a tertiary emergency department with 24 hours of worsening haemoptysis, particularly over the last four hours. She has no known systemic illness and takes no medications. On arrival she coughs 5-10 mL bright red blood every 10 minutes. In resus, this suddenly increases to about 50 mL every five minutes.
