SAQ 2019 – Neonatal jaundice after missed follow-up

A 24-day-old exclusively breastfed male infant is brought to ED by his concerned mother.

He previously presented with jaundice on day 3, did not require treatment and missed follow-up. Observations are HR 122/min, BP 68/42 mmHg, RR 26/min and weight 3250 g.

In any neonate, outline two maternal and two neonatal risk factors for clinically significant hyperbilirubinaemia.
