Some random information to use the site

I have no technical expertise other than what I have learnt to build this site. As such some of the functions are pretty clunky while I continue to try and build them.

There should be a comments button at the bottom of the saq’s and the about page. If you have specific feedback about an saq or want to add details to answers please add it to the comments section on that SAQ. If you have general comments about the functioning of the website ( some aspect not seeming to work) or suggestions for improvements or new features please put them on the about page

Apart from questions generated in the exam attempt all answers, scores and review/completed buttons are currently only stored locally in your browser. This means that if you clear your local browser cache or use a different device this information wont load currently. Most browsers also have a cap on the amount of data that can be stored locally. The only way to store this permanently for users would be to migrate to log ins.

Exam attempt

You can create an “exam attempt”. It will either select random questions up to the number you define or you can filter by tags or topics. The start fresh button will clear the answers and scores ,that you may have filled out on previous attempts, from all included SAQ’s prior to you starting the exam. The review/ complete toggles are isolated from the rest of the website. So only track the status of each saq during that exam attempt. There is a small badge under the title of each saq which reflects the status of the saq outside of the exam.

Each exam attempt is saved to a new post. The only way for users to currently access these is via the url. If you save the URL from the exam attempt you can reload this on any computer and it will load the answers, scores and status of the questions. This would allow you to send the urls to other people you are studying with to mark your exam attempts.

You cant currently change the colour of your type for marking but can mark in italics or bold to make it obvious if you have added corrections in.

The answers button is not displayed in exam mode

Once you have finished your attempt it takes you to finish mode. If you fill out the marks for each part of the question it should calculate totals for each question and an overall mark and % displayed in the side bar. The answer button should also be displayed at the bottom of each SAQ and be togglable in order to mark.

The complete/review buttons in exam attempts are isolated from the rest of the website. So if you mark a question as complete here it will not mark it as complete on the rest of the website and vice versa.

Some times when you click on a tag archive page ( page that lists all the posts with that tag) nothing generates. I spent 3 hours trying to trouble shoot this. It turns out if you refresh the page they will then all generate. I don’t know if this will be an issue on the front end when its up and running.

Each exam attempt generates a specific URL that is saved to a post. Currently the only way to get back to this is by you remembering the URL. If I migrate to a user log in version they will be stored to your account and you will be able to access them that way. These urls should be able to be sent to other people. This means you can complete an exam. Send the url to someone else and it will generate the exam with your answers allowing them to then mark it and send it back to you in the review mode. ( I suspect this wont work currently but haven’t tested it yet)
