SAQ 1093 – prolonged paediatric seizure with apnoea

A previously well 4-year-old girl has a sudden generalised tonic-clonic seizure lasting 40 minutes, terminated with one dose of midazolam. Immediately afterwards she is GCS 3 and apnoeic. She then improves to GCS 14 over 30 minutes, with no focal signs, no preceding fever, occasional headaches, normal glucose and electrolytes, and a history of three months in India six months ago.
