Extensive surgical emphysema in soft-tissue planes between muscular and vascular structures, greater on the right.

b. Slice 2

Subcutaneous surgical emphysema anterior and lateral to the upper trachea, without tracheal compression.

c. Slice 3

Pneumomediastinum with gas around the trachea and anterior to the aortic arch.

d. Complications

Pain from tissue pressure.
Temporary facial and neck disfigurement.
Deep infection, including pharyngeal abscess or mediastinitis.
