SAQ 677 – Trauma – unstable pelvic fracture and haemorrhage management

A 30-year-old man has been involved in a high-speed motorbike crash. His pelvic X-ray on arrival is shown below.

At the scene his HR was 100 bpm and BP was 90/50 mmHg. Paramedics administered 1 L of 0.9% sodium chloride en route.

On ED arrival his chest X-ray shows no abnormality. The trauma team has been activated and primary survey completed.
