A 75-year-old man presents with severe left-sided abdominal pain, nausea and loss of appetite. The pain is worse with movement and deep breathing. His history includes type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, reflux and smoking. He is uncomfortable and diaphoretic.
