• Circumferential limb burn with distal neurovascular compromise.
• Chest wall burn impairing ventilation.
• Circumferential neck burn threatening airway or ventilation.

c. Upper limb escharotomy steps

• Make a linear incision, commonly on the volar or lateral aspect, down to subcutaneous fat; one side may be sufficient.
• Extend the incision beyond the burn margins and onto the dorsum of the hand or lateral aspect of digits as required.
