A 60-year-old woman is brought to the ED after a high-speed motor vehicle collision. She was the driver of a sedan that struck a truck head-on. On arrival her GCS is 12 (E3 V4 M5), HR 100/min, BP 80/40 mmHg, RR 28/min, and oxygen saturation 99% on 15 L oxygen via non-rebreather mask. Her chest X-ray is shown below. Further assessment finds no major wounds, no long-bone injury, and a normal pelvic X-ray.
