SAQ 2018 – Chest and shoulder trauma after a dirt bike fall

A 62-year-old man is brought to your tertiary ED after a low-speed dirt bike crash. He rode up a hill, hit a mound and fell backwards onto his left chest and shoulder.

He did not lose consciousness and mobilised at the scene. He is alert and talking, RR 20/min with shallow respirations, SpO2 92% on room air, BP 130/80 mmHg, HR 95/min, GCS 15 and temperature 36.2 C. His abdomen is soft and non-tender.
